Cleaning wood without damaging it
Pressure treated pine, cedar and other woods are softer than concrete, and too much pressure leaves fuzzy marks, gouges and raised grain. We use these general rules:
- Low to moderate pressure, with a wide fan and consistent distance.
- A cleaner matched to the problem, whether algae, mildew or old stain.
- Rinsing along the grain, board by board.
- Time to dry before stain or sealer goes on, which can take longer in humid weather.
If the wood is rotted or splintered, cleaning will not repair it, and we point out boards that need replacing.
